Google Maps Got AI Support: Now Use Immersive View, Lens in Map, EV Info and More

Google Maps has recently rolled out some cool AI-powered upgrades. These include a better Street View, an AR-integrated Lens in Maps, improved search options, and more. Check out the scoop on the new Google Maps features below.

Google Maps Got AI Powered Features

Immersive View

At this year’s I/O event, Google introduced Immersive View for routes. Now, you can experience it in cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo, and Venice on both Android and iOS.

Immersive View for places, powered by AI, blends lots of Street View and aerial images. Now you can check out restaurants or landmarks before you go. Also, developers can create cool experiences with Photorealistic 3D Tiles on the Google Maps Platform, just announced by Google this week.

Use Lens in Map

Google’s Lens in Maps, once known as Search with Live View, is like having a high-tech guide using AI and augmented reality. Just tap the Lens icon in the search bar, lift your phone, and get info on nearby ATMs, transit stops, restaurants, cafes, and stores, says Google. The big news this week is that Lens in Maps is now in over 50 extra cities, like Austin, Las Vegas, Rome, São Paulo, Taipei, and more.

Maps in Detailed View

Google just shared that they’re upgrading the navigation map for a more accurate look at the real world. Expect fresh map colours and better depictions of buildings coming your way soon!

Also, on highways, users can now see clearer lane details to better prepare for turns. These improvements will roll out gradually in the next few months across 12 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, and Germany.

Advance EV Info

Starting now, the big tech company in California is improving features for cars with Google integration. Google mentioned in a blog post that Android and iOS users of electric vehicles (EVs) will get even more helpful info about charging stations.

Now, when you’re driving your electric car, Google’s got your back. It’ll tell you if a charging station suits your car model and how fast it can juice up—whether it’s a quick, medium, or slow charge. Google also knows that around 25 percent of U.S. charging spots might be on a break, so it lets you check when a charger was last used. No more wasted trips to sleepy stations, thanks to Google!

New Modifications in Map

“Now, when you search in Maps for specific things like the best place to find “animal latte art” or “pumpkin patch with my dog,” you’ll get photo-first results of what you’re looking for. These results are based on the analysis of billions of photos shared by the Google Maps community — all done with AI and advanced image recognition models,” said Google in its blog post.

Now, thanks to the tech giant, finding cool places is a breeze. Check out the visual lineup, pick a photo you like, get more info, and hit the road. This search trick is hitting France, Germany, Japan, the U.K., and the U.S. this week, with more countries joining the fun soon!
